2008 Already?

Happy New Year! It is hard to believe 2008 is already here. 2007 was such a horrible year but I still have mixed emotions saying goodbye. I am having a hard time leaving the year that my mom died... it makes me feel further away from her and really sad. But I know my family has many exciting things to look forward to in 2008 and my mom will be with us always in every step. So I am working on changing my attitude towards 2008 but know it will take some time to come to terms with it all.

Our holiday vacation has come and gone but I want to share with you our fun adventure to Ohio. Miguel, Dad, and I drove to Ohio and it took us about 9 hours. Both boys were VERY NICE about letting me stop every 2 hours for a potty break and to walk around. It wasn't too horrible but I was exhausted at the end none the less. It is amazing how tired you can be from just sitting in the car all day!! While we were in Ohio we got to visit with both the Hoying and Hoelscher side of the family. My Grandpa Hoying surprised me with a Hobby Horse he handmade for baby. It is WONDERFUL!! It is better than anything you could ever find in a store and means much more because it is made with love by him. We are excited to take pictures of baby for the first ride on the horse. Maybe I should let Sissy test is out first?!?!?

My Aunt Jane and cousin Mindy threw a baby shower for Miguel and I. This was our first and VERY EXCITING!! They worked soo hard preparing fun games, prizes, decorations, food, and so much more. It was the perfect first shower! The only thing missing was my mom sitting there on the floor snapping a million pictures, oohing and ahhing over every baby outfit. But my dad tried to take her place and took a bunch himself and he did a good job. I REALLY appreciate everything Mindy and Jane did for Miguel and I. It was very special!! We got many cute baby blankets, outfits, and lots of pink!! Apparently dad blabbed to everyone that the ultrasound tech told us that baby is a girl!!!! We were trying to keep things more neutral but I cant blame anyone from buying those pink outfits... they are irresistible!!! I am really happy with everything we got and thank everyone soo much.

We made it back from Ohio on Sunday and Miguel and I spent the next few days just relaxing at the house. New Years Eve was extra mellow this year but I did manage to stay awake until midnight with Miguel. He really enjoyed me being up late with him bc for a long time now bedtime for me has been so early and he has been left alone downstairs. It was a treat to be up late together!!
