4 month check-up

Susanna had her 4 month appointment today. She weighed in at 16 pounds 6 ounces!! I WAS SHOCKED!! Two weeks ago she weighed in at 14 pounds 2 ounces. I asked the doctor if it was possible that she gained over 2 pounds in 2 weeks, and she said this was almost impossible. She thinks that the scale was definitely wrong that day. All I know is that our little monkey sure loves to eat and LOVES to eat her bananas and rice cereal now too!! We have the go ahead to give her other veggies and fruits too. I am really looking forward to her first taste of green peas, SOO CUTE!!

Susanna had her 2nd round of shots today as well. She got 2 in one leg, 1 in the other, and 1 oral medication. POOR LITTLE GIRL IS SOO VERY SAD. Since about 6:30 tonight she just hasn't been herself at all and keeps crying and is very inconsolable. My dad, LaDonna, and myself all tried to help console her but nothing worked. Daddy was finally able to calm her down long enough to give her some Tylenol and a warm bottle and she fell asleep. I PRAY that she is able to rest and stay asleep tonight. Her sad face and crying is just HEARTBREAKING to momma.

I will try and post some new pictures soon. Tonight she was not very photogenic but we will see if we can take some new ones tomorrow. These are from the past few weeks but are still new to the blog, ENJOY!

One year ago...

One year ago today was the day that Miguel and I told my mom we were expecting. I still remember how I started to cry and could barely speak. All that came out was a tiny squeak but my moms face lite up and she smiled and somehow just knew what I was trying to tell her and she said "Susanna". She named her before we even knew it was a girl or boy!! She was so happy for us and full of joy. We are so blessed we were able to tell her before she died. This was actually one of the last conversations we had when she was still able and strong enough to respond. I think of my mom every day and Susanna is my constant reminder that she is always with me. I promise to raise Susanna in knowing all about her Grandma Sue :)

First Foods

Susanna tried her very first foods this past weekend. I have read it is ok to start practicing when she is 4 months old, and today she is officially 16 weeks!!

Her very first food was mashed bananas mixed with breastmilk. SHE LOVED IT. I accidentally tried it (I know, kinda gross) and it was really sweet and yummy. So I understand why she was kicking her feet and acting very excited once I put it in her mouth. Most of the bananas ended up on her bib but we had a lot of fun practicing!!

Today she tried rice cereal which she really enjoyed as well. She definitely needs some time to figure out how to actually swallow it but practice mkes perfect right?!?

AMAZING!!

We have an AMAZING BABY!! Just in the last 2 days Susanna has started reaching out and grabbing things with both hands. Last night she was touching and reaching out for Miguel's face. It was really cute to watch her intently study his fuzz face, reach for his nose and grab his hair. What a smartie. And then tonight she was SOO SMART again! During bath time, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, she reached out and grabbed with both hands the cup I use to pour water over her. SHE HAS NEVER EVEN SHOWN ANY INTEREST IN IT AND TODAY SHE WANTED TO HOLD IT FOR HERSELF. Also, she took the washcloth out of my hands and wanted to hold it. At one time she noticed her toes and tried to reach out and grab them too. I feel like such a proud momma, my baby is growing up and her little brain is connecting all the dots!!! Susanna is just getting soo smart I think she must be a genius! :) I wonder... does she get this from mommy or daddy?!?!?

Fun Week

Susanna and I have had another fun week. We started to put together her Baby Einstein play center. These pics were taken before I attached the toys, doesn't she look sooo cute!!

Susanna also helped me with the laundry this week. What a good girl!

On Wednesday Vicki and Ava came over for a play date. It was WONDERFUL talking with Vicki and the girls had a great time too. They layed together and played with the links but I think they really had more fun KICKING at each other!

July 4th Beach Trip

We traveled to Sunset Beach to celebrate Susanna's first July 4th. Not only was this her first beach trip but it was also our first family trip. We had a wonderful time!!
Luckily Miguels parents (who have decided to be called Granddad and GiGi) have a beautiful house at Sunset Beach so hopefully we will be making many more trips to the beach.

Susanna enjoyed the ocean and liked putting her little toes in the sand. She even took a nap on the sand in her pop-up beach tent.

Miguel was soo very proud to see her sleeping in a tent! If it was up to him camping would be our next trip!!

We were caught off guard once by a BIG wave and little Susie got scared. I can't help but laugh when she starts to scream her head off!!

Overall she really did like the water and would squish her little toes in the sand as the tide went out. Miguel is looking forward to the days when he can bring her out in the waves to play with him, he really loves to spend all his time in the ocean!

I was in charge of packing which of course meant I just brought along EVERYTHING I could think we MIGHT need.

Poor Miguel had to pack it all up and make it fit in the car and he did a great job, THANKS DADDY!! Susanna did great being away from home and slept wonderfully in her pack'n'play. We didn't have to worry about an alarm clock because Susanna would wake us up as soon as she was ready! After she got breakfast her, daddy, and Sissy would spend some time playing, so cute :)

We took a day-trip to Calabash and enjoyed some super yummy seafood! We also walked around Callahan's store and daddy found the cutest pair of sunglasses for Susanna. She is soo stylish. She was wearing them at the beach the next day and we couldn't even tell that she had fallen asleep, what a GREAT disguise!
