How does she do that?

Susanna is such a funny girl. She seems to be in her best mood first thing in the morning, which I LOVE!! Most mornings she wakes up slowly and I can hear her over the monitor starting to stir and sucking on her hand/thumb. Lately this is how I have been finding her laying in the crib.

I know she is a squirmy wiggler but I am always impressed and wonder how she gets herself in such funny positions!! When I pick her up to change her diaper she gives me TONS of good morning smiles. It is so hard to catch this on camera though... as soon as I pick up the camera she stops performing. Apparently she is a little camera shy :)

We try and go to the pool at least once a week. She is still really enjoying it and it is a fun family time! This week we were not quite ready to go yet so we wrapped her up in a blanket before putting on her bathing suit. I like to call this picture Sister Mary Susanna, haha

New Tricks

Susanna has been growing and changing every day. She is almost 13 weeks now! I can't believe she is 3 months old already, AMAZING!!! Miguel doesn't like to say she is 3 months old bc to him that makes her sound too old, so instead he has convinced himself that calling her by the weeks sounds younger. Daddy doesn't want his little girl to grow up so fast, soo cute!!

She now loves to try to sit up on her own. We bought her a Bebe Pod so that she can have her very own big girl seat. She has only tried it out once but I think she is going to like it.

Miguel has been trying out some circus tricks with her as well. The first time I saw them do this I PANICKED and felt like I was going to have a heart attack.

When he finally stopped I said "Next time you do that let me know so I can get a picture!" It makes me really nervous but I knew we had to capture it on film :)

Our little piggy sure loves to eat!! She is supposed to eat about every 3-4 hours but she can barely make it to 3 before she starts to scream for food!!

Lately it has been harder for her to wait till the 3 hour mark and wants to eat every 2.5 hours. I have a feeling it is getting close to time for us to start introducing other foods cause our little piglet is HUNGRY!!!

The dr. said we will discuss this at her 4 month check-up... that is about 3 weeks away (I hope we can make it until then)

We went on a family walk earlier in the week and our little monkey enjoyed it so much she fell asleep! Besides eating, sleeping is her next favorite thing to do :)

Baptism Day :)

Today Susanna Fourie Gonzalez received the sacrament of baptism. Miguel and I are proud and feel very blessed by our little angel. This was a very special experience for our family and we know my mom was watching over us all. She was smiling down and sharing in each and every moment. We also had many others sharing the day: My dad and LaDonna, Patricia and Ricardo, Joey (Godfather) and Jill, and Vicki (Godmother) Richard, Claudia, and Ava. We thank everyone for joining us in our first special occasion for Susanna.

Susanna was baptized by immersion and we were instructed once we got to the church to undress her down to her diaper and wrap her in a white towel. At the time of her baptism I handed her off to Father Bill (quickly undoing the diaper) and she was dipped into the baptismal font three times.

She started to SCREAM during the very first dip. According to my Grandma this means that she is going to be a singer!! She proceeded to cry through the rest of her baptism which included anointing her with LOTS of oil on her head and chest.

Father then blessed her white baptismal gown that her Godmother Vicki was holding and Godfather Joey lit her candle. She received a welcome from the community and we then went to change her into her baptismal gown and bonnet. SHE LOOKED BEAUTIFUL!!! I wish I could of kept her dressed in the gown for longer... she might have to wear it again just around the house!

Her baptismal gown is very special. It was the same gown I wore when I was baptized and it was made from the same material as my mothers wedding dress. My dad and I searched FOREVER to find where my mom had it hidden and FINALLY found it just 2 weeks ago.

Vicki came over that day to help us search and I believe it was her prayers to Saint Anthony as well as my mom guiding us to the right location that helped us find it! We even found extra material and Vicki had a matching bonnet made for Susanna. LaDonna worked very hard to clean the gown and brighten the color and it was perfect and looked beautiful. I love that Susanna wore the same gown as I did and the story of how it was made. What a wonderful family tradition!

After the ceremony we all went to my dads house for lunch. It was delicious and a great time. Susanna received some special presents including her first pieces of jewelry, FANCY!!

She really likes it!

We took Susanna back to the pool and she REALLY liked it!! The water was much warmer this time due to the 100 degree temps lately and I think that overall she was in a better mood.

Miguel held her and slowly got her wet and used to the water and before long her legs and bottom were in the water without any screams. We switched back and forth holding her and the three of us had a lot of fun together. At one point I asked Miguel what kind of expression she was making because I was really lowering her whole body into the water and he started to laugh because she had fallen asleep! She was so relaxed and I guess the water temp was just perfect for a little nap.

Soooo cute :)
