Our Little Piglet!
Susanna had her 2 month check-up on Tuesday and she did GREAT!! She is in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. Miguel and I had a bet going on how much she would weigh... I guessed 11 pounds 3 ounces and he guessed 12 pounds 2 ounces. Wanna know how much she actually weighed... 12 pounds 15 ounces!!! Our little monkey is almost 13 pounds already! We were both surprised but knew she was getting chubby and cuter every day. Just this past week she has moved up to 3-6 month clothes too. Obviously she is growing and doing wonderfully and we are so proud! At this same appointment she received her first round of vaccinations and we were both nervous how it would go during and after. Of course she cryed when she got her shots (2 in one leg, one in the other, and one dose of oral meds) but the nurse said she was very stoic for a 2 month old. She definitely has cryed and screamed MUCH LOUDER for less reasons so I was happy to see she handled it so well. They let us know of possible side effects and what to look for during the next 24 hours. Our little girl did start to run a low grade fever, which is normal and to be expected, so we had our first experience giving her some medicine to help. Miguel and I figured out the best way to give her the meds without her spitting it all out and quickly she was sleeping and seemed to be feeling much better. So far this morning she is doing great and back to normal. Her next appointment will be when she is 4 months old and she will get another round of shots at that time. She gained 4 pounds in her first 2 months and if she keeps up this rate she will be almost 17 pounds by 4 months, so cute!!

Last week my dad, Susanna, and I traveled to Ohio to visit with our extended family. Susanna got to meet her great grandparents and great aunts and uncles. It was a wonderful trip! Unfortunately we did not get to stay for my cousins wedding but my uncle shared some pics with me. My cousin Katie was a BEAUTIFUL BRIDE and the new Mr. and Mrs. look very happy and seemed to have a fantastic wedding. I wish them the best and much happiness and love :)
***Once my dad emails me the pics taken in Ohio I will post them***
While my dad and I were in Ohio Miguel was doing some traveling of his own. He went with his dad and two brothers on a rafting/camping trip through the Grand Canyon. For 5 days they rafted down the river seeing all the amazing sites and camped along the river at night.

It sounds like a wonderful time was had by all and the brothers did a lot of bonding! They all even had nicknames, how cute! Miguel says he already misses it and wants to go back. He loves all outdoor activities so this was a GREAT trip for him!
Miguel and I took little Susanna to the pool for the first time! It did not go exactly as planned because our angel was a bit cranky and it was a little chilly outside. When I dipped her feet in the water she SCREAMED because it was so cold so that is as far as it went. She sure did look ADORABLE in her bathing suit and robe though huh?!?!?!

It's Official...
The UNC School of Dentistry graduation was yesterday and Miguel is officially Luis Miguel Gonzalez, D.D.S. We have been talking about and preparing for this day for a LONG TIME and he is now Dr. Gonzalez!!!

The past 4 years of hard work and determination have finally paid off for Miguel. It is hard to believe that 4 years have already come and gone. When we look back it feels just like yesterday he was applying to UNC, FINALLY getting the call that he was accepted, getting adjusted to the intense schedule and life of a dental student, working on his first patient and getting started on his required procedures, and now finishing it all and receiving his diploma. I am so very proud and have been referring to him as Dr. Gonzalez ALL DAY LONG!
Yesterday was a VERY busy day. Our plan was to leave the house by no later than 7am in order to get to Chapel Hill in time to beat traffic. However, it all started around 4 am for me. Susanna woke up for one of her night time feedings but she decided not to go back to sleep afterwards so after she finished eating and I put her back in the crib she never really got settled. I was able to get back in bed but kept listening to her noises over the monitor. Before I knew it my alarm was going off at 5:30 and she was screaming at the same time. After much rushing around both Miguel and I were able to get dressed and we were on the road at 7:15... not too bad! We arrived in Chapel Hill and met up with my dad and Joey who were both attending the morning ceremony with us. With Joey's knowledge of the UNC campus we were able to find a great parking spot quickly. However as soon as we had gathered up all the required baby essentials and our many bags, Miss Susanna pooped her pants!!! Miguel changed her diaper in the back of the car wearing his full regalia. It was a GREAT funny start to our day!

The morning ceremony was VERY rainy and thankfully short as well. Miguel and only one other classmate attended. It was perfect though bc Miguel and Chessica have become close friends over the past 4 years, always sitting together during class at school, and they will always remember their final time sitting next to each other at graduation!

After the ceremony we went to Miguel's parents house for lunch and with a break in the rain took some family pics.

The Dental School ceremony started at 6pm and prior to this was a reception at the dental school building. Miguel and I attended and got to walk around the dental school one last time! I even had my first experience changing Susanna's diaper in a public bathroom, soo fun.
The graduation ceremony took place at Memorial Hall on the UNC campus and it was wonderful. All the students received their diploma and were hooded as well. The doctoral color for dentistry is Lilac... which you may notice matched my dress very well! It was such a proud, emotional moment when Miguel walked across the stage and received his hood and diploma. Afterwards Miguel told me that it all went so fast he barely remembered the moment and was happy I videotaped it all. We have already watched the video today!

Joey was in charge of photography all day and did a great job!! My dad was in charge of keeping Susanna quiet during the ceremony and he tells me today that his arm and wrist hurts from the constant patting and rubbing on her back to keep her happy. I am so happy they were both with us all day to celebrate and be a part of such a special day. My mom was with us too as it was Mothers Day as well! My mom was always so proud of Miguel and his schooling. She would tell him she was going to take some classes in order to be able to walk at graduation with him. I know we all could feel her watching down and sharing in the day with us!

New Dress
Today I had my 6 week follow-up appointment since the C-section. Everything is healing as they expect and I am cleared to get back to normal activities. This past weekend I started walking with Susanna and trying to work off some of this baby weight. I am SOO ready to get back into my regular clothes and eventually get into a bathing suit. So the exercising has begun and I am excited to start a workout routine with little miss Susanna!! So far she has been very good on our walks and sits there quietly or falls asleep. I am just glad she enjoys it because I love having her come along!!
When I came home from my doctors appt today I found Susanna in a brand new dress. Her daddy bought it for her as a surprise for Mommy. He saw it at the store and just couldn't resist. So this is Susanna's first outfit picked out by her daddy... I am sure there is plenty more spoiling to come!! Didn't Daddy do a FANTASTIC job in choosing this cutie pie dress!

This upcoming Sunday is Miguel's Graduation from UNC Dental School. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!? The long 4 years of school are finally over and I am so very proud of Miguel. He has worked very hard to get to this point and I know he is excited to put on that cap and gown and get his DDS! I know I will be very emotional on Sunday and grinning ear to ear. We are going to make a whole day of it and attend all the celebrations... this day is too important not to!!! I promise we will have plenty of pictures to post after the big day!
Check out Daddy and his little girl... soo cute!!

Finally an Update!
It has been a VERY busy past 2 weeks. We are so sorry for our slackerness and lack of updates. I was reminded via email that it has been 19 long days since our last update and people are anxious to see the latest pics of little Susanna! Two days ago we had our Internet hooked up and Susanna is taking a nap so I FINALLY have a couple minutes to update!!

Our move has been going well. We closed on the new house last Wednesday and in the week since the move we only have a couple boxes left to unpack. Miguel has been working over-time to get everything set up so we can start relaxing. He is such a GREAT daddy! We have a few last minute touches but the majority is done. Both Susanna and Sissy are adjusting great.

Sissy now has a fenced in back yard to run around and play and she loves it. She has dog friends living right behind us and they are getting to know each other through the fences. Miguel set up Susanna's nursery right away so her transition has been very smooth.

She actually is such a big girl now that she is sleeping in her own crib and no longer in the pack n play in our room. The first night was a little scary because I was used to listening to all her noises and I felt like I couldn't hear her but I am getting more used to the monitor and she is doing great. I think Miguel and I are sleeping better now and Susanna is occasionally giving us 5 hour blocks at night and we really appreciate it!! Overall she is a really good baby and growing everyday. She gets a little fussy every night starting around 8pm but we have figured out ways to sooth her. Even with her fussiness she is still an angel baby!

Recently she had her first big girl bath in the tub. The first time she screamed her head off just like she would with the wash cloth baths but the second bath I think she really liked it. Only a little screaming and most of the time she just layed there and enjoyed the water. Miguel set up her bath tub for the second bath and we figure he got the PERFECT water temperature and that makes all the difference. My Grandma told me to always test the water with my elbow to know whether it will be right for baby. For the third bath time I did the elbow test and it all went pretty smooth! I really am looking forward to when she starts to splash and really have fun at bath time!!

Before the big move Miguel and I took Susanna to his class picnic. We had a great time with his classmates and ate GREAT BBQ. Susanna wore a dress for the first time and was super cute! I wanted a mommy and daughter pic of her in her first dress but she wasn't having it. As you can see in the pics she SCREAMED during the entire photo shoot. You can still see how cute she looks in her dress though!

Susanna's favorite toy is her Boppy Bouncer. She gets so snugly and cozy and we can usually count on the bounce to help calm her and coax her into taking a nap. She has not started smiling at us yet but we have been lucky enough to catch some smiles during sleep. She is soooo precious!

Now that we are getting more settled and everything is coming together I PROMISE to update more often. We will keep taking pics of all her cutest moments and sharing them.
